The body and spine is made of several bones that connect together at joints. Joints should move smoothly in all directions, but sometimes there is irritation or inflammation that may cause them to stop moving the way they were meant to. When this happens, the muscles, nerves, ligaments and joints all stop functioning optimally.
Maintaining proper joint motion is vital to avoiding injuries, nervous system irritation, and arthritic tendencies. In order to restore proper joint mechanics and motion, the doctor will direct a small amount of pressure (adjustment) to the specific joint.
The muscles attached to that joint have a memory for their previous position and will often pull on the joints even after the adjustment is given. That is why the doctor will also provide soft tissue treatments to help the muscles remember the new desired position. Addressing the muscles as well as the restricted joint at the same time is vitally important.
Chiropractic Care is a drug-free, non-surgical method of treating, and preventing disease by providing movement to the joints of the body, especially the spinal column. Dr. Kiefer is also trained in complementary fields of nutrition and acupuncture. Chiropractic care is used to evaluate and treat a patient’s muscular, nervous, and skeletal systems. Dr. Kiefer may also explore how diet, exercise, environment, and heredity issues contribute to a specific patient’s pain and injuries.)
What Techniques Do We Use?
Dr. Kiefer utilizes a variety of techniques when adjusting a patient. Each patient requires an
individualized approach so different techniques may be used for different patients.
Below are some of the adjusting techniques used:
-Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT)
-CMRT (Chiropractic Manipulative Reflex Technique)
